On the day of our chief minister J.Jayalalitha’s birthday, the AIADMK partymen provided calipers for four physically handicapped children. The function started with flag hosting, guest speech and calipers provision.

The second year anniversary was celebrated along with initiating afternoon lunch program and regular health checkup for the special school children.

In India, every year November 14th is celebrated as Children’s Day by the Government. In our school also we started celebrate the children’s day. Mr.Elango, the Reporter of Daily Newspaper hosted the flag. The sweets were distributed for the special children. A musical chair game was kept for the children. They all participated with full joy.

The world Differently Day was Celebrated on 13-12-2015 at 10 a.m. at Pulamadan Chettiar Higher Secondary School, Sattankulam. Rev. Fr. Selvan, Parish Priest of Periathazhai commenced the Celebration with prayers in the presence of Mr. Peril, President of the Association of Differently Abled.

Mr. Venugopal, Principal of Joseph’s College Presided. Different Competitions like sports, kolam, fancy dress and music were conducted. Mrs. Basil Susheela Michael, Joint Managing Trustee of Mikkael Foundation and the Correspondent of Mikkael Rehabilitation Center for Differently Abled, Physiotherapist Antony Henson, Co-ordinator Mrs. Adlin William Wise, Special teachers Mrs. Munia Eeswari Sudhba, assistants Mrs. Maharasi, Mr. Isakki, differently abled students and many others participated in the function.

The Students of this institution Salasmon, Pavithra, Isaivani, and Uma got Prizes in the fancy dress Competition. Sudali and Mubeda participated in the music competition. Suganthi got the first prize Subina got the first prize in speech Competition.

Information about how to get aids for the physically handicapped, government grants for the differently abled, etc. were communicated during the celebration. Competitions and other proceedings were conducted by Mr. Venugopal, Principal of St. Joseph’s College. All the Students were given mid-day meals.

A grand procession was also arranged the procession started at 4 p.m. from the Kamaraj Statue at the Old bus stand, Sattankulam and end at Pulamadan Chettiar Higher Secondary School. Everyone associated with Mikkael Rehabilitation Center for Differently Abled participated in the Procession. The procession was started by Mr. Sivasubramanian, President of the Southerrn Region. Mr. Maha Pauldurai, Pudukulam Panchayat President, and Mr. Joseph, President, Sattankulam Panchayat Union President spoke on the occasion.

Mr. Gabriel, Secretary of the Association of Differently Abled proposed a vote of thanks and the celebration ended with National Anthem at 7 P.M.

Christmas and New Year was celebrated in December 2015, in the presence of the Chief Treasure of Differently Abled Mr. Borcil, his wife, and Mr. Maha Pauldurai, retired teacher. Pongal was celebrated in our School in January 2016.

Our special educator Ms.Eshwari and Vocational Trainer started the vocational Training in crafts such as basket making, cot weaving and candle making. Children are assessed on their ability and interest are made to involve into those activities.

The birth-day of our honourable. Chief Minister J. Jeyalalitha was celebrated in our institution with our differently abled students in a grand manner.

Mr. Rajmohan, Sattankulam Panchayat Union A.D.M.K. Ex-Secretary Precided over the function in the presence of Mr. Jeyapandian, Sattankulam Panjchayat Union Ex-Counciller. Thatchamozhi Panchayat Secretary Mr. Shanmugaraj, Mrs. Susheela, Managing Director of the School, Physiotherapist Dr. Henson, teacher Mrs. Eeswary, Mr. Isakkimuthu and Mrs. Maharasi and others Participated in the Celebration.

With the participation of all, the birth-day Celebration of our Chief Minister J. Jeyalalitha ended gracefully. New dress and mid-day meals were given to our children by Ex-Councilor Mr. Jeyapandian.

Students of Mikkael Differently abled Rehabilitation Centre Special School Participated in the Medical Camp conducted by the Education for all Movement at Santhosh Nadar Govt. Higher Secondary School in Kommadikottai on 12-09-2016.

Election is one of the greatest celebration of Democracy. The special population also has the right to vote. The DDRO of Tuticorin, along with Mikkael Foundation organized for an awareness camp where Disabled persons from the nearby villages where brought together. The responsibility of disabled persons towards voting was emphasised.

As this is the fourth academic year with more than thirty special children, the school reopening day was celebrated in a grand manner. The 10th and 12th std highest mark scorers from Sattankulam Taluk were appreciated with awards. The lunch was provided with one of the political parties as part of their birthday celebration.

On 01-04-2016 a medical camp was organized in our school by Dr. Antony for our differently abled students and for the general Public. Pudukkulam Panchayat President Mr. Balamenan presided and undertook medical checkup for himself. Nearly 150 individuals were benefited. Medical treatment and medicines were also given. In April 2016, an Election Awareness camp for the differently abled was organized in our School in the presence of Mrs. Santhi Glory, The DDRO, Tuticorin. More than 75 differently abled attended the camp and were benefited.

Students of Mikkael Rehabilitation Special School, for the differently abled participated in the sports Competitions conducted by the District Collector at Thoothukudi on 26-11-2016 on world Differently Abled Day. Children showed great interest.
