How Rumia ended up into the helping profession, Social Work?
Being born into a generous family, with her father, a social activist with revolutionary thoughts laid the foundation for humanism in Rumia’s early years. The schools which Rumia studied allowed her to nurture her dreams of helping the poor, disabled, and the sick through field visits and youth programs. Rumia used to lead small study groups in school where she was able to understand the learning problems of poor performers with empathetic listening.
It is in the final year of her Bachelor’s course that Rumia realized her calling: the profession of counselling. Rumia pursued a Masters in Psychiatric Social Work, a Masters in Clinical Psychology and completed a Doctorate in Social Work.
A brief about Dr.Rumia’s journey as a mental health practitioner
Dr Rumia spent her early professional years as Research Specialist, Counsellor, Lecturer and Assistant Professor in different educational institutions in India. Dr.Rumia has been practising as a full-time clinician, since 2010. Dr.Rumia is capable of dealing with all kinds of psychological problems irrespective of the client’s age.
She has tremendous knowledge of Psychometric assessments related to Education and childhood disorders.
Dr.Rumia has an enormous interest in adolescents and help them to learn Life Skills to manage their daily life effectively.
Dr.Rumia specialized in eating disorders and obesity management.
She conducts wellness workshops for the general public. Dr.Rumia is capable of engaging her audience and clients through different therapeutic tools.
