A brief history of Mikkael Foundation

Inaugurated in a small rented house

Five differently-abled children enrolled in the rehabilitation program

Officially registered as “Mikkael Foundation” under the Indian Trust Act 1882 and Shifted to a commercial rental place with nine children

Free afternoon meal program (support services) initiated to keep regular attendance of children

In order to guarantee the complete wellness of the students, monthly medical check-ups are organized. A complete record of both educational and medical reports allows for a holistic understanding of the respective child, which later can be used for a better treatment intervention strategy. When needed, necessary medications are provided.

The students are provided with transport facilities that ensure a convenient travel to-and-fro to school from their respective homes. This ensures a calm mind to worried parents and guardians.

Students of Mikkael Foundation started attending District level Sports events and bagged many medals

Students of Mikkael Foundation participated in State Level sports events.

Mikkael Foundation is recognised and certified a reliable private rehabilitation center by TamilNadu Government under self- financing category

The District Disability Rehabilitation Office (DDRO) of the Tuticorin district forms an intricate network with Mikkael Special School by government aid to the students. The DDRO aids the students enrolled within Mikkael Rehabilitation Centre by providing government-issued ID cards that allow students to use public transportation at a discounted rate, some monetary compensation along with many other facilities.

The Department for Welfare of Differently Abled, Tuticorin Dt, started the service of Mobile physio-clinic to Mikkael Foundation monthly twice.

Students and Staffs of Mikkael Special School together visit nearby picnic spot as a way to celebrate their oneness.
