Enhancing Life Skills for Wellness- Dr.Rumia

Wellness is the fusion of Health and Happiness. It's only you can understand, measure, experience, expertise and enjoy your wellness. Though there are many components, diet is the most relevant component which gives you the energy to feel and appreciate the wellness you have throughout the day. Are we responsible enough for our welfare?

The place is full of food wherever you go with both healthy and unhealthy stuff. Being aware of the nutritional value, we get tempted. Yes. Only today, .and the day never ends. Eating at the party, eating in the mall, eating in the meeting, eating in the ., the list goes on.

Around the world, Life Skills-Based Education (LSBE) has been adopted as a means to empower young people in a challenging situation. There are ten essential life skills namely self-awareness, empathy, creative thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision making, effective communication, interpersonal relationship, coping with emotion and coping with stress. Among the 10, the self-awareness skill is the most important as it includes a recognition of personality, identify, understand and appreciate our abilities, skills and qualities, explore our own beliefs and values and relate these to our actions, our strength and weaknesses, our likes and dislikes.

Let see how "being aware" going to influence your wellness about food and diet. The wellness assessment involves both nutritional and psychosocial evaluations. The nutritional assessment will be conducted by Advanced Body Composition Machine, available Lab investigations, Biochemical Assessments and Doctor's report, diet history and cultural food preferences.

Wellness Assessments

The Psycho-social Assessment involves a detailed assessment of your childhood experiences both happy and sad moments, stressors in your life, the coping mechanism you have, the social support system you have etc.

The nutritional assessment make Yourself aware of the current weight and Body Mass index, whether Your weight is appropriate for your age, sex, height and activity level or you are obese or underweight.

Some of us maintain a normal weight range but consuming more calorie than the required amount leading to obesity and other lifestyle disorders in later years. Sometimes being an underweight person, ignorantly consuming fewer calories, peer pressure, the social expectation of looking thin, and media exposure leads to eating disorders in the forthcoming years.
